“[WhatYouGetIsWhatYouSee]”

In this video, I focused on the ideas of black people vs the reality of black people and culture. So it’s a timeline of black people being perceived through media vs how black people are.

So in each clip of my family, you are being told a story and being faced to acknowledge this factor. Another layer is an audio message of my parents and I talking about the way black people or POCs, in general, are faced to present themselves in the real world. So as my title suggests; “ What You Get Is What You See”

I personally battle with this every day consciously, I just find it interesting that in capitalist state we have to actually question our appearances everywhere we go or appeal to this “white idea of a society”
